Ok here is the deal

I have talked my gaming group into letting me run a Fallen Earth campain

now I would like the game system I use to be a close to the actual game system as I can get

which begs the question what system woud best be adapted to work

Personally i have always been partial to the Cyberpunk 2020 / Interlock system, mmm simplisity

but I could see using the Story Teller or white wolf system
as it is flexable and fast

last choice would be the D20 system which is flexable
and appears to be the closest

any suggestions ?

Lee I beleave has experiance with writting table top rpg
and based on the credits i have seen tend to be heavy d20

I wonder if they plan to publish a pen and paper fallen earth
*hint*

I suggest That one internet d20 board game simulator that I forget the name of.

:(

It has a nice world builder.

Generall i run my games very free form

however when the player wants to do something that requires a check

I like to roll dice

ie make a head shot at 1000 ft

or shoot the ropee before the trap door + noose snaps the neck of there buddy

or pick a complex lock etc

Lets see... you could try AFMBE for the survivalist aspect, there's the stock d20 system you could run with... Cyberpunk could possibly work, with some serious tweaking, same with Shadowrun... hell, with some flavortexting, you could even go for the FFRPG system. *shrugs*

Just depends on how creative you are and how much work you want to put into it.

the table top game is off to a roaring start

I am using modified cp2020 rules basically a salted it with some of the faction system from the version 3.0 (http://www.talsorian.com//talsorian/NEWWEBSITE/V3Page.html) to try to model the dynamic

so far we have a couple green peace wana be players and a zen kung fu philisophical wack job

I also have a another player wanting to join in on the fun with strong leanings toward the barbaric he wants to be the next Lord Humongous ... has CHOTA writen all over

ishould be a interesting can of mixed nuts

will keep ya posted if anthing interesting comes out

Take a look at the GURPS ruleset. It's been a long time but I believe they even have a few worldbooks that are somewhat similar to Fallen Earth.

MMM gurps love the supliments and the world building system

the player system not so much

I prefer nice and simple (skill rating+stat+roll+bonus vs differculty rating )

:-)

I'll play but I know nothing of the systems which you speak of.

I'm just damn good at rolling dice. And modifying/inventing interesting house rules for A&A Minis, Flames of War and of course Warhammer 40k.

Not too far off topic, but I started collecting/kit bashing some GW miniatures to make some Fallen Earth themed 28mm tabletop miniatures.

The Captain recommends a modification of the Gamma World rules, or perhaps the d20 Modern rules.

I also applaud you efforts, because even though I am an evil dictator that crushes the life from the innocent, I enjoy freedom of creative license.

At least, before I roll over it with my tanks.

Well, despite Lee's admittedly broad spectrum of writing history with the system, I've simply found d20 to be the most easily adapted of the game systems.

That said, it has its flaws. Just a matter of working around them.

Or crushing the hometown of the designers with marsupial shock troops and branding "Property of Pouches" into their sickly, pale white buttocks.

I agree d20 is very flexable

and it is a semi open license

ie i can get at it ........

I would have to learn it cold if i am GM ing though

definatly going to look into it

for now i will run what we have more or less free form
