Just curious, when's the last time anyones actually written a letter, instead of using email or chat programs, or cell's...

Just interested. I can't even remember the last time... Funny huh?

I write for a living, so I can say just yesterday.
And once again I'm writing a letter to a friend that also contains some real 'hard' pictures.

Wow, so do I, write for a living that is. With a computer, of course.

The real question would be when's the last time you wrote a letter or anything longer than a half-page note (e.g., your grocery list) by hand--you know, with pen and paper.

Again just yesterday.
I also deal with actual paperwork. I also have a huge notepad that I use to pencil and pen in notes.
Also being a PnP gamer I stull use the might pencil to write in things.

Of course people still use pen and paper.

I figured the question was more to do with forms of communication.. note it says email, chat messangers, cell phone.... not wordpad, open office... and writing on paper.

I can't remember the last time I actually WROTE a letter to someone, not including sending papers, forms, whatever and other things to people. As in, dear bob, how are you. Who knows, maybe when I was a kid.

It's like asking 'whens the last time you used a carrier pigeon'.

I'm guessing birthday cards don't count as letters. ;)

OO OO!!! What about love letters???

You mean that's still around? Thought AOL went the way of the dinosaur.

Doesn't AOL stand for America Off-Line?
Must be why I never heard of it until I got to the States...rubbish.

I don't know, actually. They may have come over to Britain full time and rebranded themselves as NTL. They're about on the same level. Damn acronym-named internet companies...

I still write essays and school assignments by hand semi-often b/c I find that I can actually get alot done during my commute to and fro. The downside is that using my leg as a base on a swaying subway car makes my hand writing even more illegible :D

Does word processing CVs count?

I write all the time. I tend to work on my short stories and the longer stories and novels all on a pad of paper.

Like doing this since i'm not always around my computer when i write. Lot cheaper to buy a legal pad and a pen than dropping the money on a laptop.

Also using pen and paper stops me from getting distracted by all the other stuff on my computer.

'Bout 7-8 years ago, when I wrote short stories/RPed in between school instead of typing 'em.

well no not unless you use a pen to write them out first.

i'd think any writing with a pen would count

if it is any writing with a pen, then i do that everyday, mostly at work, but i also write out poems and stories by the ink to paper method, its just mroe, personal that way, computers tend to butcher the way a note or letter to someone flows or can be construed... IMO
